I’ve been looking for some new exterior lighting for our house and for a while I was in a serious analysis-paralysis. If you’ve read my very first blog post, you know that when we bought our home it needed to be rescued from the 80’s.  I’ve been shopping around and I had my eye on several, but was having a hard time making a decision. I decided to turn to my old pal Pinterest to start an exterior board to see if I could narrow down the look I’m after. Here are a few that I pinned as inspiration.  As you’ll see the lighting is mostly traditional, but with a modern, clean lined bent which is on par with my taste. I love mixing these two looks. Oh and apparently I really like white houses!Screen Shot 2015-11-14 at 11.00.11 PM

What I’m looking for is really an updated lantern shape. Here are a few I’ve had my eye on.

So the winner is…drumroll please….

I chose this one based on both look and price. I like that it’s traditional, but simple and un-fussy and ultimately I had to consider price. I have to replace 7 lights in total so that ruled out a couple of the others. The first of several is being installed today — just in time for the holidays.

Oh and just for fun… check out the lights we are replacing. They scream 1980, and not in a charming-retro way, right? IMG_5225IMG_5066Now as Thanksgiving approaches, I’m savoring the last moments of my favorite season before it’s time to deck these halls!
