It’s been almost two years since I started designs on a new build beach house for a lovely and very lucky family. It’s still not done, because these things take time (and patience), but it’s approaching the finish line and it occurred to me that I haven’t shared much in the way of progress. I can’t wait for it to be done so this sweet family can spend all their spare time in their beautiful home, which by the way, has stunning views of the Pacific ocean.

My client has great taste, but needed some help to pull things together. Her main home is more on the traditional and formal side so she tasked me with helping her to keep things a little more casual for this family gathering spot.  The architecture of the home is mediterranean, but this is a beach house after all, so we’re calling the overall look “coastal mediterranean’ and including lots of classic finishes like white cabinetry, light oak floors and finishes in polished nickel and bronze.

Here’s a look at some rooms that inspired the look.

And here’s the design board for the kitchen.

And a progress shot or two… excuse the un-professional iPhone pics and the mess, but this is a construction zone.

Love how the floors turned out. This combo fireplace and entertainment center will be a perfect spot for my clients to cozy-up after long days spent at the beach.

I hope to share more photos soon. Have a great week!
