After what felt like the longest project ever (almost 3 years!), I’m happy to finally share photos and more about the design process behind the La Selva Beach New Build. At the end of the day I was only able to capture a handful of photos (more on that below) so I’m including some design boards and floor plans so you can see where we started and the inspiration for the designs.
My clients came to me from out of town and wanted help choosing finishes for their beautiful new build in the coastal haven of La Selva Beach. I provided design direction on everything from the front door to the flooring, moulding, kitchen and bath finishes, lighting and overall look and feel. My clients already have great taste so ultimately ended up furnishing the home themselves, but choosing finishes for an entire house and project managing from afar can be overwhelming and so they enlisted my help in making decisions with the finishes. I provided design boards for the kitchens and 4 baths along with several options for the main living and dining room furniture layout to help them make the most of of their beautiful ocean views.
We opted to keep the finishes clean, coastal and classic, using natural materials like marble and a soft white, gray and blue color palette. See below for a few of the design boards.
The two story home has an open floor plan with the living spaces on the second floor to take advantage of the beautiful views. I provided my clients with several options for the living room furniture arrangements which would optimize the view as well as the fireplace.
This plan below shows a sectional with a round coffee table, while the version above shows a single sofa paired with arm chairs.
Not a bad view!
Out of respect for my clients, I only snapped a few photos of the finished kitchen and master bath. This family faced many unforeseen issues during construction which delayed the project several times and were so ready to get on with their lives. They were a pleasure to work with and I’m grateful I was able to help bring their beach home to life. I’m so thrilled they’re finally done and enjoying life at the coast!
