Earlier this month I talked about design “looks” for the new year and one that I have my eye on is channeled upholstery. Channeled furniture takes it’s heritage from the art deco scene of the 1920’s and then was brought back some time in the 80s’, yet to be reinvented again in its current state. I’m loving the look of a pretty channel back upholstered headboard, but we’re seeing the look pop up in all sorts of other furniture too like sofas, chairs, ottomans… you name it. One of the reasons I like the look is because it can be interpreted as modern or more traditional and feminine, depending on how you style it.
